Table Tennis Table Review
Table Tennis Table Review Serving
Table Tennis Table Review Introduction
Table Tennis is a very intense sport. If you have seen the Olympic table tennis events you understand that it is a lot different from your fun game of ping pong in Grandma's basement. You still may not understand of a table tennis table review. You may think of professional table tennis players as goofy, strange people like those portrayed in Balls of Fury. In which case you may think that it would be ridiculous to review table tennis rackets (ping pong paddles) or even more strange that they would do a table tennis table review. After all you may be thinking its a flat piece of plywood with a net stretched across the middle what difference does it make what kind of wood or how its painted etc... If you would realize that there are young children who spend their lives preparing to compete in the Olympic Table Tennis Games and for them it is just as serious as our swim team studying what kind of suit to wear that cuts down thousands of a second in a swim sprint.
Table Tennis Table Review Importance
Even now you may be thinking what does does it make to a professional what the table is like. Wouldn't a table tennis table review just cover cost and durability and the answer is a resounding no. Just to give you an idea here are a couple of the quality issues that need to addressed in a comprehensive table tennis table review.
Table Tennis Tension
The tension of a table tennis table impacts the bounce of the ball. If you have watched golf you may have heard of the stent meter which measures the speed of the golf ball on the green. A similar test on a table tennis table measures how far the ball will bounce when dropped from a specified height. It is also important that this tension and bounce is exactly consistent on every inch of the surface of the table.
Table Tennis Friction
The friction of the surface is impacted by the kind of wood and its finish and also what coatings are used. All of the issues of friction on a table tennis table impact the spin or flight path of the ball after it makes contact with the table surface. You don't want a table that grabs the ball too much but you also don't want a table that allows the ball to slide on the surface because it is too slippery.
All of this sets the table (lol) for us to begin a series of blogs reviewing specific table tennis tables.
